Poems for Encouragement and Inspiration

Sometimes

Sometimes, when the sun goes down, It seems it will never rise again… but it will!

Sometimes, when you feel alone, It seems your heart will break in two… but it won’t.

And sometimes, it seems it’s hardly worthwhile carrying on…
But it is.

For sometimes, when the sun goes down,
It seems it will never rise again,
But it does

Sorrow

In this sad world of ours, sorrow comes to all,
and it often comes with bitter agony.
Perfect relief is not possible,
except with time.
You cannot now believe that you will ever feel better.
But this is not true.
You are sure to be happy again.
Knowing this,
truly believing it,
will make you less miserable now.
I have had enough experience to make this statement.

Hope and Grieving

by Nick Alcantara (c)

Grieve until it doesn't hurt any more
Cry until the tears have dried
For how long ~ Have I been numbed
By the piercing pain ~
That only I ~ can understand
No one can tell ~ How much I can bear
The sorrows
Of many more tomorrows

My pain is so unique
No two clouds can form ~ Exactly alike
My friend ~ It's so easy to say
I know exactly
What you're going through (I'm afraid not)
Be strong (but I'm weak)
Life must go on (Part of me died--
I'm starting a new life)

Just please hold my hand
Or give me a hug
(at least I need three hugs a day)
Be silent and just be there for me
Your friendship and encouragement
Are all I need

Just let me endure ~ As long as I can
for time will somehow ~ soften the pain
and soon become your friend
Remember that life
Will never be the same again

For tomorrow is another day
The sun will rise ~ The sun will set
I'll keep my hope and set my goals
I'll take time to smell the flowers
And cherish my kids
(Children and flowers remind you ~ that life is still beautiful)
Look straight ~ For better days
Are surely just ahead
I've learned ~ That life should never, never
Be taken for granted.

"There is no night without a dawning,

no winter without a spring,

And beyond the dark horizon

our hearts once more will sing...

For those who leave us for a while

have only gone away

Out of a restless, careworn world

into a brighter day."

Helen Steiner Rice

The Rose Beyond the Wall

A rose once grew where all could see,

sheltered beside a garden wall,

And, as the days passed swiftly by,

It spread its branches, straight and tall ...

One day, a beam of light shone through

a crevice that had opened wide ~

The rose bent gently toward its warmth

then passed beyond to the other side ...

Now, you who deeply feel its loss,

be comforted ~ the rose blooms there ~

Its beauty even greater now,

nurtured by God's own loving care.

The Lord is my Shepherd;

I have everything need. He

lets me rest in fields of green

grass and leads me to quiet

pools of fresh water. He gives

me new stength. He guides me

in the right paths, as he has

promised. Even if I go through

the deepest darkness, i will not

be afraid, Lord, for you are

with me. Your shepherds

rod and staff protect me.

From Psalm 23

"Special people

touch our lives

in everything they do

and leave us changed

long after they are gone ...

The gifts they gave us

can become

a part of who we are --

a legacy of beauty that lives on."

THINK OF THOSE WHO LOVE YOU

If someone should hurt you and say a thing unkind,
Remember that I write you, and keep these thoughts in mind.
For everyone that makes you cry, there are three who make you smile,
And a smile will last a long, long time, but a tear just a little while.
Don't let someone who hates the world, cause you to hate it too.
Behind the clouds is a golden sun, and a sky that's full of blue.
If someone said a thing that's cruel, don't let it get to you,
Your achievements are greatly numbered, and your faults are very few.
So if a certain person should act a certain way,
Think of those who love you and don't let it spoil your day.

Beautyful woman

The beauty of a woman is not in the clothes she wears.
The figure that she carries, or the way she combs her hair.
The beauty of a woman must be seen within her eyes, because that is the
doorway to her heart.
The place where love resides.
The beauty of a woman is not in a facial mole, but true beauty in a woman
is reflected in her soul.

It is the caring that she lovingly gives, the passion that she shows, and
the beauty of a woman, with passing years, only grows!
You are a beautyful woman!

Recipe for a successful day

One cup friendly words
Ten cups of understanding
Four teaspoons time and patience
A handful of warm personality
And a good portion of humour.

Weigh the words carefully and add the understanding.
Take your time and don’t forget that patience.
Mix together over the fire with the personality.
Don’t let it cook over.
Hold the temperature at 37º C and always have the humour at reach.
Add the spices of life as fit and serve in individual portions.

"If I live in a house of spotless beauty with everything in it's place,
I am a housekeeper, not a homemaker.
If I only have time for waxing and polishing,
my children will learn of cleanliness, not godliness.
Love leaves the dust in search of a child's laugh.
Love smiles at the tiny fingerprints on the newly cleaned window.
Love wipes up the tears before it wipes up the spilled milk.
Love is the key that opens salvation's message to a child's heart.
Before I became a mother, I took glory in my house of perfection;
but now, I glory in God's perfection of my child."

"It is hard to fail, but it is worse never to have tried to succeed.

In this life, we get nothing, save by effort."

Theodore Roosevelt
